The Eshleman Library is in the process of transitioning from Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) to Library of Congress Classification (LC). A multi-year undertaking, during the transition period you will see both classification systems in use in the stacks on the 1st and 2nd floors of the library.
The online catalog accurately reflects current locations for all materials, and librarians and Circulation staff are available to help locate a specific title or subject area of interest.
The Dewey Decimal Classification System is a way to put books in order by subject, It is often used in public libraries and schools in the United States and other countries. It places books on the shelf by subject using numbers from 000 to 999. It is called "decimal" because it uses numbers to the right of the decimal point for more details. Source.
